Sharon aka Shar Veda is an Ayurveda Lifestyle Counselor, Yoga Therapist, intuitive healer, and writer. She has studied with leading teachers in Ayurveda, Yoga Therapy, Vedic Thai Yoga Bodywork, and herbalism. However, her adopted grandma, Doe (English-American and Blackfoot Native), her first teacher, was the one who instilled within her a profound appreciation for the supreme power of loving touch, healing arts, psychic intuition, and world family.
Shar is a Mother's Day baby, born on the New Moon (had to put that in!) She works with at risk teen girls in a group home and with people of all ages in her private practice.
When Shar is not working, she enjoys bodywork, spa, sound healing, creative movement of all kinds, therapeutic yoga, hot pilates, moderate weight lifting, cycling, cooking, good food and drink, nature, warm oceans, and travel.
Shar writes health & beauty articles for Mother Earth Living. She has also written a middle grade fiction called, Star Sisters, which is currently in the review and revision stage.
While Sharon was always athletic, she was not always pain free. When she was a junior in high school, she was an avid cyclist and tennis player and had shooting pain in her low back so severe it kept her home from school many days. When she realized it wasn't going away on it's own, her mother took her to Dupont Children's Hospital where she was diagnosed with a mild case of scoliosis. Sharon is forever grateful to that doctor for giving her a set of back strengthening exercises instead of pharmaceuticals! This was her entry point into yoga, pilates, and strength training. Within one week of practising the strengthening exercises every night before bed (and buying a firmer mattress), the painful spasms disappeared.
